SEISMIC PROTECTION SYSTEMS

Seismic protection of structures allow designers to provide a safer and more economic design for bridges, buildings and large structures. Base isolation is one of the most efficient and well established techniques. High damping rubber bearings (HDRB), lead rubber bearings (LRB) and pendulums are different devices with different damping properties in order to match designer’s needs and seismic characteristics.

In order to increase damping and reduce horizontal movements, hydraulic dampers can also be added to the structure that needs to be protected.

Shock Transmitter Units, in certain cases can be used to distribute significant seismic impacts on larger structure sections.

A good seismic design is a combination of all these techniques, to provide for every case the optimum solution.
